Start from different points and when you have something you like, listen to it over and over until it sparks something new creatively. Experiment with ambient/drone/noise/etc. too. You seem very creative, so I'm sure you'll stumble onto something great.

since you guys have proven to be so darn useful:
i have to pick a topic for my english independent study unit. what i have to do is write a comparative essay about a book and the movie based on said book. (it has to be book then film not the other way around). any recommendations?
